Call for Workshops and Special Sessions

3DTV CONFERENCE 2015

Immersive and interactive  3D Media experience over networks

July 8-10, 2015 – Lisbon,  Portugal, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa

The 3DTV-CON 2015 Organizing Committee invites proposals for the Workshops and Special Sessions Program of 3DTV-CON 2015, the 9th 3DTV Conference on Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video, to be held on July 08-10, 2015, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Three-dimensional audio-visual systems are evolving beyond stereo and multiview video plus depth and we are interested in pursuing the most recent advances along with disruptive science and promising technologies for the benefit of future generations. In particular, technologies for capturing and coding new audiovisual scenarios and realistic 3D reconstruction of user environments, light field video processing for communications and immersive interaction. Technologies and methods to measure and improve the quality of experience (QoE) and user acceptance are a particular topic of interest in this call.

Topics of interest

Capturing and processing of dense 3D representations
Immersive multi-user 3D reconstruction
Standardization for 3D-TV Services
User-acceptance of 3D multimedia
QoE-driven 3D media technology

Apart from the targeted topics, Special Session topics can be proposed by prospective organizers and will be evaluated by the Special Session Chairs.
Each Special Session shall have some specific objective, for example:

▪   To present original and valuable research results in the larger context in which they have been achieved, e.g., a EU R&D project.
▪   To present a set of technologies that definitively solves an existing problem, or that is constrained to a specific application domain.
▪  To present explorations regarding future emerging technologies, showing different approaches to solve some new research.

Other objectives can also be proposed by prospective session organizers. Workshops can be proposed as multi-session meetings with emphasis on a wider topic. The same application procedure as for single-session (special session) meetings applies.

Submitting a Proposal
Proposals for Special Sessions (Workshops) must include:

▪    Title of event (special session or workshop).
▪    Rationale of the need and objective of the event.
▪    Specific topics of interest.
▪    Contact information for the event chair(s).
▪    Short biography of the event chair(s).
▪    List of potential papers, including title, abstract and author names, affiliations and contact information.

Each Special Session is expected to have 4 to 5 papers and a Workshop is composed of at least 8 papers. At least one author of each paper must register for the conference and present the paper at the conference.

All papers at 3DTV-CON 2015, including papers solicited for Workshop or Special Sessions, will undergo the same rigorous reviewing process by anonymous and independent reviewers. A Special Session or Workshop might be canceled if the required number of papers is not reached after the review procedure. In such case, successfully-reviewed papers will be scheduled for the regular sessions.

Proposals for Workshop or Special Sessions should be submitted to Special Session Chairs Eduardo da Silva and Nikos Grammalidis (3dtv-con2015_Workshops-SS@lx.it.pt) before February 27th, 2015. Prospective organizers are strongly encouraged to contact Eduardo da Silva and Nikos Grammalidis in advance.

Notification of acceptance of proposals is scheduled for February 27th, 2015, paper submission for accepted Workshops and Special Sessions is scheduled for March 27th, 2015, while the review schedule is the same as for regular papers.
